OBOC ANNOUNCES PHOTO CONTEST WINNER: NOOR HAYDAR
OBOC sponsored its first annual photo contest to capture an array of images inspired by the themes presented in “Zeitoun.” Noor Haydar (pictured to the right with Abdulrahman and Kathy Zeitoun) was named first place winner for her award-winning photo (pictured to the right). She was awarded an iPad.

PHOTO CONTEST CATEGORIES - let them inspire your submissions!
Category 1.  There were scenes of how the poor in New Orleans were left with no safe place to flee the path of the storm or the flooding after. What images suggest to you the ideas of deprivation and loss?

Category 2.  “Zeitoun” tells the story of a naturalized American citizen and his family succeeding in New Orleans. Where else have you seen the blending of cultures?

Category 3.  “Zeitoun” was one of thousands of volunteers in New Orleans who worked to rescue victims and clean up and repair the wreckage left behind until his own personal tragedy struck. Are there examples of similar personal generosity in your community?

Category 4.  New Orleans is an iconic city that is celebrated for its highly unique culture, architecture and people. What is a signature image that represents your city?

Category 5.  Katrina was a devastating hurricane that left destruction in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Have you seen skies that speak to the fury, drama or splendor of nature?

Category 6.  Many people have traveled to New Orleans and experienced the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina first-hand. What personal images of New Orleans, taken before, during or after the storm help you relate to the experiences presented in “Zeitoun?”
