Community members can meet Abdulrahman and Kathy Zeitoun, subjects of Dave Eggers’ bestselling book “Zeitoun,” as part of the 2010 One Book, One Community (OBOC) program. The Zeitouns will present a first-hand account of the heart-wrenching story shared in “Zeitoun” at a special event entitled “Five Years Later: An Evening with Abdulrahman & Kathy Zeitoun” on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Kellogg Center. Admission is FREE and attendees will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. There are two additional opportunities for community members to catch the Zeitoun’s visit to East Lansing: * The Zeitoun’s Sept. 19 visit will be recorded and rerun on East Lansing’s government channel, Channel 22 (WELG). Air times will be Sundays and Mondays at 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. from Sept. 27 - Oct. 25. * The recording of Zeitoun’s Sept. 19 visit will also be made available to borrow at the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, beginning Friday, Sept. 24. About the Program The annual One Book, One Community program, sponsored by the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University, encourages the city-university community to read the same book and come together to discuss it in a variety of settings. The book is an assigned reading for all incoming MSU freshmen. A series of community and campus events will take place Aug. 29-Sept. 30. Visit www.onebookeastlansing.com to view the full calendar of events.
