What is East Lansing's One Book, One Community? The annual One Book, One Community program, co-sponsored by the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University, encourages the city-university community to read the same book and come together to discuss it in a variety of settings. The book is also an assigned reading for all incoming Michigan State University freshmen. Pick up a copy of this year's book and turn the pages with the community.

Catch Jonathan Safran Foer’s Sept. 25 Visit to East Lansing Jonathan's Safran Foer’s Sept. 25 visit to East Lansing was recorded and will be rerun on Ch. 22 (WELG) on Sundays and Mondays, noon and 8 p.m., from Oct. 3-28. People who were unable to make it to the event are encouraged to catch it on TV! In addition, DVDs of the author's visit can be borrowed from the East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road, beginning Friday, Sept. 30.
One Book, One Coffee to Spark Informal Conversations In a new program this year, OBOC brought community members together by matching up MSU students, long-term residents and local book groups to discuss the book. OBOC Celebrates 10th Anniversary of OBOC and Pays Tribute to 10th Anniversary of 9/11 Tragedy A series of community and campus events are planned for this fall around the themes in “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” a book that is about love, loss and the consequences of a tragic event in our nation's history. This year’s program simultaneously celebrates the 10th anniversary of OBOC, while also paying tribute to the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
Michigan Remembers 9/11 Fund The Michigan Remembers 9/11 Fund is raising funds to memorialize Michiganians whose lives were lost on 9/11 and those who risked their lives to aid those affected by the tragedy. On the website, viewers can read about the 18 people with Michigan connections who died in the attacks, and view a list of 9-11 anniversary events across the state. Visit michiganremembers.org.
